NBA例行赛为循环赛制，每支球队都要完成82场比赛；例行赛到次年的5月结束，每个分区的前8名，将有资格进入接下来进行的季后赛。
场数分配[编辑]
一个完整的赛季需要完成82场比赛，其中包括41场主场及41场客场。现时NBA各球队的比赛场数分配如下：
同分组球队：一季4次对决，主、客各2场，四队合计16场
同分区不同分组球队：一季3或4次对决，十队合计共36场
不同分区球队：一季2次对决，主、客各1场，十五队合计30场
